The Camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora), also known as Camphor laurel, is an exotic that has been widely cultivated for more than a century as a shade and ornamental tree in Florida and elsewhere. Alcanfor or
Camphor is a white, hot, crystalline solid that is obtained from the boiled and
crushed branches, trunk and roots from the camphor tree. It is soluble in
alcohol, olive oil but not water.
